I am afraid that the real message is that us scared little people who fear the weather, our money and health need a ruling class to look after us.BTW, since a great deal of the low price on the DJI is the direct result of shorting, we might actually see a healthy bump in the market before Congress and get its stimulus package in place.

The painfully obvious reason for the difference between 2000 and 2008 is that in 2000 the sitting president was a Democrat and they wanted up to be sure that we knew that he had placed us in economic paradise. In 2008 the sitting president is a Republican and they want us make no mistake that he is the sole cause of our economic woes because it's always been true that "it's the economy, stupid."
